In this Beaux-Arts style building, elegantly erected in 1922 by the architect Norbert Duhoux, we had the privilege of transforming a typical Brussels apartment into an inspiring interior space. Upon entering, we were charmed by the succession of rooms that characterize this apartment, and the resulting interior architecture served as our source of inspiration. The lofty, majestic ceilings, diverse moldings, and herringbone oak parquet flooring are authentic elements that captivated our team. Our primary challenge was to redesign the space in a way that eliminated the need to pass through the bedroom to access the restroom. Through clever optimization, we succeeded in separating the bedroom and creating an additional hallway, ideal for storing outerwear.
Our design philosophy for this project is rooted in the harmony between innovation and heritage. We chose to preserve and showcase the apartment’s authentic architectural elements, allowing every nook to tell its story. Instead of erasing the past, we integrated it into contemporary creations, weaving harmonious narratives that bridge the past to the present.
Regarding the style and aesthetics of this apartment, we opted for a transitional approach. We elegantly married traditional and contemporary elements. Abundant natural light, a neutral color palette, the use of noble materials such as wood and marble, as well as the subtle play of metals (gold and black metal) all contributed to creating a space that is both timeless and modern.
We are proud of the final result of this project, which exemplifies our commitment to bringing unique spaces to life, where architectural heritage meets innovation to create exceptional environments. We hope that this apartment reflects the tastes and aspirations of its residents while preserving the rich history of its location in the heart of Brussels.
